Mercedes introduced its revised front wing in practice in Singapore before giving it a race debut in Austin. The upgrade was fitted to the cars of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, with Antonelli’s car taking the win.
The key change was how the wing’s chord area was distributed across its three elements. The original design was mounted to the nose through the middle element, an unusual arrangement that meant only the upper flap could flatten in straight-line mode.
